From time to time, you may need to update employee mailing addresses in myVRS Navigator as part of regular data maintenance or record reviews. These updates can be made individually or through a batch process.

Helping Employees Know What to Expect

When an address is updated, the system automatically sends a confirmation letter to the member. The letter is mailed to both the previous address and the new address on file.

Because these letters are generated automatically, employees may be surprised, especially if they did not personally make the change. In some cases, members have contacted VRS with concerns that their account was accessed without authorization.

Communicating ahead of time helps employees understand why they may receive a letter and reinforces confidence that their account information is being managed appropriately.

Encourage Employees to Secure Their Online Accounts

By registering their online VRS accounts, completing the identity-verification steps and then establishing a password-protected account, members are helping prevent someone else from laying claim to the account fraudulently.

Copy and paste these security best practices for your next employee newsletter or posting on your intranet page:

  • Register your myVRS and defined contribution accounts to help prevent someone else from attempting to claim the accounts fraudulently. For your security, passwords must be reset every 90 days.
  • Ensure your personal email addresses and mobile phone numbers are always up to date on VRS systems.
