As fiscal year 2027 gets underway, it’s time to complete required tasks in myVRS Navigator. Taking these actions now helps ensure employee records, contributions and reporting remain accurate throughout the year.
Report Salary Changes to VRS
If you have entered salary increases or decreases in your payroll system for the new fiscal year, report those changes to VRS. Keeping salary information current helps ensure contributions collected from employees are correctly posted to their member accounts.
An on-demand Salary Report is available to help non-batch filing employers manage future-dated salary changes. The report allows you to record all salary changes and then submit them as a single file. Refer to the Changing Salary Using the Salary Report as a Template process guide (login required to access). Review the Salary Changes File Error Report the following day for any salaries that did not update in myVRS Navigator. You can access the report in the Report Repository. If a salary change is 10% or higher, it must be updated manually.
Review Contract Employee Records
For returning VRS-covered contract employees, ensure contract start dates are updated for the new fiscal year.
If contract start dates are not updated, myVRS Navigator will automatically advance them by one year after the final monthly snapshot from the prior fiscal year has been confirmed. Reviewing contract employee records now can help avoid reporting issues later.
Employees without a contract for the new fiscal year will not be billed on the snapshot. Ensure you are reconciling your snapshot after the new contracts are updated.
Stay on Track With Monthly Reporting and Payments
You must report employee activity for the month and submit contributions and any life insurance premium payments by the 10th of the following month. If the 10th falls on a weekend or holiday, payment is due the next business day.
If you use ACH debit, create and approve your payment schedule at least three business days before the due date to allow time for file exchanges between VRS and its financial institution. Approved payments will be withdrawn on the date the employer selects.
Employers that do not confirm monthly snapshots or submit required payments on time may be subject to penalties and interest. VRS appreciates your partnership to ensure timely submission.
