Retiree Tax Forms Mailed, Available in myVRS

Tax documents were mailed and uploaded to retirees’ myVRS accounts by January 31, 2026, consistent with IRS guidelines.

Ahead of next tax season, retirees can opt out of paper delivery and choose to receive their IRS Form 1099-R and W-2 electronically through myVRS.

This option offers a faster, more convenient way for members to access their tax documents. Members can change their selection at any time. Those who don’t opt out will continue to receive paper copies by mail regardless.

One-on-One Member Counseling Available

VRS offers in-person counseling appointments Tuesday through Thursday for all active and retired members.

Sessions are available from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the VRS counseling center, 6641 West Broad Street, Suite G106, in Henrico County.

Virtual counseling appointments (video or audio) are available Monday to Friday.

Members can book appointments online.

Streamline Onboarding With the VRS Member Guide

Chances are you’ve got a lot of benefits to cover when onboarding new employees.

Simplify your task by making the VRS Member Guide available to new hires.

The guide is a compact, easy-to-read summary of programs administered by VRS. (Pro tip: It’s also a helpful refresher for current employees.)

Some highlights:

  • Helps employees answer the question, “What plan am I in?”
  • Provides a timeline of action items so employees can take full advantage of opportunities to participate in optional life insurance or long-term care coverage.
  • Shows Hybrid Retirement Plan employees how increasing their voluntary contributions early in their careers will boost their potential retirement income.
