Protecting benefits starts with a secure account.
Small actions taken throughout the year can help employees safeguard their information and stay connected to their VRS benefits. Remind employees to take simple steps to protect their VRS accounts:
Register for myVRS
Employees who have not yet registered for a myVRS account should do so as soon as possible. Creating an account allows members to securely access benefit information, retirement planning tools and financial wellness resources. It also helps establish account ownership and reduces the risk of fraud.
Log In Regularly
Encourage employees to log in periodically, i.e., every 90 days, and review their account information. Regular account activity helps employees stay familiar with their benefits and makes it easier to spot unexpected changes or information that may need attention.
Keep Contact Information Current
A mobile phone number and personal email address add an extra layer of account security and help ensure employees receive important notifications from VRS. Employees should review and update their contact information whenever it changes.
Employees should periodically confirm that their personal information, beneficiary designations and other account details are accurate. Keeping records current helps VRS communicate important information and supports timely processing of benefits and transactions.
