Your Turn to Ask
What resources do you offer to help onboard new employees?
Three resources we recommend sharing with new employees:
VRS Member Guide
Point employees to the VRS Member Guide, an easy-to-read summary of programs administered by VRS.
The guide:
- Helps employees answer the question, “What retirement plan am I in?”
- Provides a timeline of action items so employees can take full advantage of opportunities to participate in optional life insurance or long-term care coverage.
- Shows Hybrid Retirement Plan employees how increasing their voluntary contributions early will boost their potential retirement income.
Another option: Order print copies of the VRS Member Guide to distribute.
Important: Please continue to encourage both new and current employees to claim their online accounts (myVRS and Voya, if applicable). Once registered, they’ll gain access to personalized projections, goal-setting tools and a clearer picture of the financial steps they can take today to improve their retirement outlook tomorrow.
Hybrid Retirement Plan Homepage
Most new employees will be placed in the VRS Hybrid Retirement Plan. Refer them to the Hybrid Retirement Plan webpage to learn more about their plan. For example, new employees will learn the details about the defined benefit and defined contribution components of their plan.
On the hybrid plan page, new employees will also find links to the Hybrid Learning Channel. The channel’s short videos provide a helpful summary of the plan and discuss the importance of making voluntary contributions.
New employees who qualify for plans other than the hybrid plan, such as VRS Plan 1 or 2 or optional retirement plans, can start at the VRS Retirement Plans webpage for overview information and links to additional resources.
