Member Benefit Profiles will be available in members’ myVRS accounts by early September. Based on information employers provided to VRS by June 30, these annual statements include account balances, retirement eligibility details and other benefit information.

To maintain your standard of living when you retire, experts say you will need at least 80% of your work income. The MBP provides an estimate of an employee’s future retirement income and measures this estimate against the 80% income replacement threshold. The figure combines their estimated future VRS defined benefit, Social Security and an estimated annuity from their deferred compensation plan, if applicable, as of June 30. It also provides tips for closing the gap between that retirement income and the 80% benchmark.

Each annual MBP is an opportunity for members to think about their plans for retirement and ask questions such as:

  • Should I consider working extra years? Or could I retire earlier?
  • Do my retirement savings seem adequate, or should I try to boost them?

Employees can use the MBP and retirement planning resources available in myVRS to sharpen their retirement plans and generate more comprehensive estimates of their income in retirement.

VRS will email you when 2025 MBPs are ready.
